BWCA Camp Food Breakfast

Campers opting for our complete outfitting, food and canoe, or food only packages use our camping menu to select their food for their canoe trip. Our camping menu provides your group the best in ultra-light freeze-dried food and fresh food for your adventure. Need vegetarian, pescatarian, or vegan camp food? We customize the food packed specifically for your group’s needs and tastes.  The menu selections are well-balanced, delicious, and easy to prepare, with a variety of fresh and freeze-dried foods. 

If you’re staying in the bunkhouse as part of your outfitting package reservation, we serve you all-you-can-eat French toast in the dining hall for your first breakfast. From then on, you prepare all meals family-style on the trail. All group members eat the same menu item at each meal. When selecting meals, please select a lunch for each day camping.  Please select one less breakfast than each day camping (since we serve your first breakfast in our dining hall).  Dinner for the last outfitted day will not be packed unless specifically requested, so select one less dinner than number of days camping.  For example, for a 5 day camping trip, you would select 4 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 4 dinners.

Our single serving sizes are designed satisfy an average appetite, but if you have a healthy appetite, we happily pack extra servings for no additional charge. To give you a sense of serving size, for our bacon, fresh eggs, and biscuits breakfast, we pack 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, and 2 biscuits per person for our average serving. If you request an extra serving, you will receive 4 eggs, 4 pieces of bacon and 4 biscuits for an individual serving. We also pack extra snacks and staples (i.e. instant soup, popcorn, and s’mores) for your group so no one goes hungry.

Food packs are the only pack that get lighter as your trip goes on, but you can keep your pack light from the get-go by following these tips:

  • Forego sugar drinks, such as fruit drink (i.e. Gatorade) and hot cocoa. Choose sugar-free fruit drink (i.e. Crystal Light), or water instead.
  • Opt for dried fruit rather than fresh fruit
