The Ahrendt familyEvery summer, Tuscarora Lodge employs a dozen young people to assist us in delivering the best outfitting and canoeing experience possible. Our typical employees are college students, since our season of operation corresponds to most school schedules. We generally ask for a time commitment of approximately three months, ranging from mid-May through mid-September. Our staff is usually comprised of 11-12 employees.

important:  In our small community we are looking to hire a pool of people to do a wide variety of tasks.  You will be hired for a primary duty and will be expected to share in all duties as needed.

 

OUTFITTING STAFF

    1.  Clean and maintain all gear.  This includes:

            •Washing cook kits

            •Scrubbing and inspecting canoes

            •Cleaning and inspecting tents

    2.  Load equipment into vehicles and trailers

    3.  Transport people and equipment to and from various landings

    4.  Pack fresh and dried food as well as staples, cooking utensils and
         clean-up supplies

    5.  Assist housekeeping staff as needed

    6.  General resort maintenance (painting, raking, cleaning vehicles, etc.)

    1.  Clean cabins, bunkhouses, shower house and other buildings.  Some
          areas are cleaned more than once daily.

    2.  Assist Cook Crew as need: serving, cooking, cleaning

    3.  Assist office staff as needed

    4.  General resort maintenance (painting, raking, cleaning vehicles, etc.)

    1.  Cook/supervise the preparation of meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
          for the staff daily

    2.  Maintain a clean environment in the Tuscarora kitchens

    3.  Keep an inventory of food items, assist in ordering food weekly

In addition to your monthly salary (based on ability and experience) we will provide living quarters and three full meals a day.  Wage amounts will be quoted to you upon inquiry.  Employees share one of our 2 to 4 room cabins with other employees.  Each person has a private bedroom.  Employee-only restroom and shower facilities are located in one of our main buildings and shard with a few other employees.

Tuscarora is open 7 days each week.  Employees have one full day off per week.  Length of the workday depends upon your position and level of business activity.  Hours of each position will be discussed with you after receipt of your application.  Time off allows you to explore the BWCA, swim, fish and enjoy the beauty of the Northwoods.  Employees may use Tuscarora equipment (canoes, tents, etc.) during their time off.
